Precautions before use
1. Lubrication selection -Special oil for oilstone: low-viscosity mineral oil or special grinding oil, which can reduce blockage and improve cutting efficiency. -Water-based lubrication: suitable for fine polishing, but it is necessary to avoid long-term immersion to prevent the substrate from softening. -Dry grinding is prohibited: grinding without lubrication will lead to rapid wear of oilstone and damage the surface of workpiece.
2. Surface pretreatment -Before the new oilstone is used for the first time, it is recommended to lightly grind the surface with #600 grit sandpaper to remove the hard particles that may be produced during transportation.
Matters needing attention in use
1. Pressure control -Rough grinding (#120-#400): Moderate pressure (about 3-5 kg/cm) can be applied. -Fine polishing (above #800): It needs to be lightly pressed (1-2 kg/cm) to prevent the particles from falling off and affecting the finish.
2. Temperature management -When grinding continuously for more than 15 minutes, the cooling should be suspended (the temperature of the oilstone should be ≤60℃), and high temperature will reduce the strength of the binder.
3. Direction of motion -Cross grinding method (alternating grinding in 45 direction) is adopted to avoid groove wear caused by one-way movement.
Safety warning
Protective equipment: dust mask and goggles must be worn, and silicon carbide dust may irritate respiratory tract. Forbidden scene: it can't be used to polish soft metals such as lead and tin (it is easy to cause metal adhesion on the surface of oilstone). Scrapping standard: When there is obvious depression or uneven particle size on the surface of oilstone, it should be replaced in time.
